Youth Programs

According to the United States 2012 Census, the City of Dallas is one of the top 3 largest cities in Texas and has a population of 1,197,816, with 34.4% of that comprised of persons under the age of 25.  Dallas Habitat has decided that it is the perfect time to launch a youth program that will strengthen and empower youth to become leaders in their community.

Our youth program will provide opportunities for youth aged 5 - 25 to be engaged in bi-monthly activities as well as quarterly events.  At the root of every activity we will focus on maximizing potentials in the following categories:

  • Education
  • Advocacy
  • Fundraising
  • Leadership Development
  • Community Service

Bi-Monthly Activities

Bi-monthly activities for youth groups will allow Dallas Habitat to engage younger volunteers who are not old enough to build.  The activities will vary each time and be aimed at various age groups.

  • Garage Sale
  • Bake Sale
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Car Wash
  • Restaurant Fundraiser

Quarterly Events

Each quarter Dallas Habitat will develop large events that multiple youth groups can participate in.  These opportunities will give youth and their leaders a chance to network and demonstrate to the community the force for good that youth can be.  These events will also be an opportunity for older youth to take substantial leadership roles and develop lifelong leadership skills.

  • Fun Run/Walk
  • Bowl-a-thon
  • Golf Tournament
  • Silent Auction/Live Auction
