| About The Omar Family Amira Omar is a loving daughter and adoptive mother to Delina, her 12 year-old niece. In 2004, she came to America from Ethiopia with her mother, Amina, and her Delina. Amira never thought that she would be able to own her own home after only being in the United States for 5 years and she feels truly blessed every day to have this opportunity. For the past three years, she has been working as a Nurse’s Assistant at C.C. Young Retirement Home in Lakewood. Becoming a full time nurse is one of her life long dreams. Amira has no biological children, but Delina is like her own. Delina is in the 7th grade. She always has her nose in a book and will read anything that she can get her hands on. It is truly an admirable quality. Amira’s mother, Amina, is 65 years old and is the family’s saving grace. During the day when Delina is off at school and Amira is working, she cleans the house, cooks and waits for their return. When Amira is not working, you will usually find her in the kitchen with her mother cooking up a storm. They love trying new recipes together, but they tend to mostly cook their famous traditional Ethiopian dishes. The three of them currently live in a 2 bedroom apartment and they are overjoyed to finally have more space. Since Delina will be a teenager soon, she is excited to have her own room and a bigger closet. All three of these women are ready to get involved in all the things that their new neighborhood has to offer. Getting to know their neighbors and become part of the community will make this new and exciting opportunity complete. |
